WSL Final Day: Arsenal Women have almost guaranteed qualifying for the Champions League over Man City by Michelle
Arsenal Women must maintain their third-place WSL finish in order to qualify for the Champions League in the upcoming season. Our Gunners must defeat the Villans at Meadow Park on the final day of the WSL season to guarantee qualification, as they are currently three points ahead of fifth-place Villans.
On Saturday, May 27, all 12 WSL teams will play on the final day of the regular season. All games will begin at 14:30 UK time.
The top of the WSL table looks like this as we head into the WSL Final Day:
At the top of the standings, Chelsea leads Man United by two points, and a victory would give them a fourth straight league championship. Reading is in danger of being relegated to the WSL’s lowest division, and they won’t want to go down without a fight. Could Reading upset the WSL’s established order?
Going into the last league game of the season on Saturday, United, who have never won the WSL, are two points behind the league-leading Blues. Marc Skinner, the manager of United, told the BBC: “If the Blues lose, we’ll win the WSL. If Emma Hayes’ team draws, we’ll have to beat Liverpool by six goals to make up for the goal difference.”
“We must win the game no matter what. We must put a lot of effort into what we can do and, more importantly, take pleasure in it. We might still have a shot at winning it, and if not, we place second.
To disrupt the historical top three, that is a big, big season regardless of what happens elsewhere. I want people to give this team the credit they deserve.
