With his new “midnight” moniker, Ronnie O’Sullivan taunts his snooker competitor, claiming that it is a “nightmare” to follow his old enemy and accusing them of causing his Saudi debut to end at 3 a.m.
The seven-time world snooker champion defeated Higgins, who was unable to pot a single ball, 4-0 to cruise into the next round of the first Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker.
But because of Mark Allen’s thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Selby earlier in the evening, which lasted for almost three and a half hours, the game didn’t start until 1.45 am local time.
While doing interviews for Eurosport, Jack Lisowski complimented O’Sullivan and then said, “You’ve done us a favor, because it’s getting late here.”
‘Selby – I nickname him ‘Midnight Selby’ because his games stretch past midnight every game – it’s a nightmare,’ O’Sullivan responded, chuckling as he glanced at his watch.
Given that tomorrow is approaching, you shouldn’t be following Mark.
When asked if it felt like three in the morning, O’Sullivan said, “No.” I feel like I’m just getting started since, you know, I sleep for a good few hours today when I’m exhausted. If it’s what the fans want, I’ll play longer. Now, they’ve all returned home.
When asked if the matches of the day had been enjoyable, O’Sullivan replied, “Have they?” To be honest, I haven’t seen any; I’ve just been relaxing.
However, I am aware of it. You know, it was a little bit of a drag today, but hey, you’ve got all the best guys going up against each other, so you’re always going to have fantastic games.
Even Mark Allen thought that was difficult. However, yes.
Before, O’Sullivan said that Selby and Allen’should deserve their own comedy show’ because of how long their match was, which resulted to their early dismissal from last year’s World Snooker Championship semi-final.
At the time, O’Sullivan commented on Eurosport, “The crowd seemed to enjoy it.” Some folks at home will like watching snooker in this manner.
Some prefer to watch the offensive side of the match, while others prefer to play defense and analyze every shot.
They would make a great double act with the referee included, so perhaps they could go on their own comedy show! They are enjoyable friends.
The Rocket was not the only player in the Saudi capital to express his displeasure with the postponed program.
After losing to Luca Brecel 4-1, Ali Carter was irritable during the post-match interview, criticizing the referee and whining about the delay. I arrived and have been waiting to play for four hours.

On Wednesday, O’Sullivan will play Judd Trump in the semifinal; Allen and Brecel will play each other in the other match.
