Mbeumo and Wissa link up to secure Brentford’s first home win since December
Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa delivered standout performances as Brentford claimed a 4-2 victory over 10-man Brighton & Hove Albion, keeping their hopes for European qualification alive.
Mbeumo opened the scoring within 10 minutes with a composed finish, but Brighton equalized before halftime through a Danny Welbeck header. After the break, Brentford took control — Mbeumo quickly added his second goal and then set up Wissa to extend the lead. Brighton’s Joao Pedro was later shown a red card, further tipping the game in Brentford’s favor.
Mbeumo and Wissa now sit among the league’s top six scorers, with 18 and 16 goals respectively. Kaoru Mitoma gave Brighton a lifeline with a late goal, but Christian Norgaard sealed the win in stoppage time with Brentford’s fourth.
