Why Mauricio Pochettino cannot start work at Chelsea before July 1 as London flight booked

Graham Potter’s replacement, who has agreed to a two-year contract, will arrive in London on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino, who was eventually named Chelsea manager on Monday, will start making preparations for the upcoming season right away.

Pochettino has already begun laying the framework for a vital summer, including speaking to Blues players, despite the fact that he cannot officially start in his new position until July 1 due to the circumstances of his departure from Paris Saint-Germain a year ago.

N’Golo Kante, who has an expiring contract, and Mason Mount, who has a year left on his agreement and is drawing interest from a number of Premier League competitors, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, after stalled negotiations with the club, will be among his top targets.

Pochettino is also anticipated to discuss summer preparations with co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, with whom he will collaborate closely, and with departing temporary head coach Frank Lampard, who has been critical of the players and claimed that “standards have dropped.”

Pochettino will divide his time between the capital and Barcelona over the course of the upcoming month. He is scheduled to arrive in London on Wednesday for a series of meetings, and he will also be in Manchester on June 11 for SoccerAid.

Pochettino’s team has 19 players with longer contracts than his, but the 51-year-old is reportedly relaxed about agreeing to a two-year contract with a one-year extension.

Graham Potter, his predecessor, received a five-year contract with the instruction to develop a long-term project but was fired after only six months.
