Darwin Nunez has been on a tear with Uruguay in recent weeks, and Luis Suarez is now seemingly loving what the Liverpool striker has become.
Having been lauded as ‘excellent’ by Lionel Messi this week, Nunez took his growing legend with Uruguay even further last night with a brace for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in a 3-0 win against Bolivia.
And Suarez is seemingly loving life alongside Nunez, with TV cameras picking up the pair laughing together at full-time as well as embracing one another when the pair were substituted for each other.
Whilst the torch has fully passed onto Nunez as Uruguay’s leading striker, it’s still incredible to see how strong a friendship Suarez now has with his successor both on and off the pitch.
Publically praising the Liverpool striker on social media, Suarez is clearly a massive fan of Nunez and what the striker is now becoming for club and country.
And this latest performance for Uruguay is only just the start for Nunez, who now returns to Liverpool in top form ahead of their biggest game of the season yet in Manchester City.
Darwin Nunez can become the next Luis Suarez for Liverpool and Uruguay
Going one better than a striker of Suarez’s efficiency is a bold challenge for any player, yet Nunez could do just that for Liverpool and Uruguay in the years to come.
The 24-year-old finds himself in positions that Suarez could only have dreamt about when on the pitch, and if Nunez can nail down his finishing to an exact science, the forward can become a legend in the modern era.
Whilst there is some way to go before Nuenz can reach Suarez’s outstanding goalscoring numbers, it’s clear that the striker is finally finding his feet for Liverpool and Uruguay.
And it might not be long until Nunez is creeping up on his predecessor, with time firmly on the striker’s hands heading into the future.
