The new rule, which states that NBA players must participate in at least 65 regular season games to be eligible for the most prestigious full-season awards, such as Most Valuable Player, has caused a great deal of angst since Joel Embiid’s injury eliminated him from contention.
Recently, Jaylen Brown, a prominent forward for the Boston Celtics and vice president of the Players’ Association, was questioned about the fairness of the 65-game regulation. In response to his duty as a vice president, the native of Georgia offered his customary nuance: perhaps a little lower figure would be preferable.
ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith became enraged over this and blasted Brown’s remarks on a recent edition of “First Take.”
There was not a lot of yelling, which was unusual for Smith, but you can watch the video attached above to hear what he had to say about Brown’s remarks.
