In a 2022 Finals rematch at TD Garden, the NBA-leading Celtics (47-12) host the Warriors (32-27 and 8-2 in their previous 10 games).
The Boston Celtics will host the Golden State Warriors at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon. It’s pride that matters to the hosts.
Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson celebrated on the court as the 2022 NBA Finals came to a close. Despite all the positive things the Celtics have done this season, the Warriors still got the better of them when they met in San Francisco towards the end of December.
With Green out and Thompson having trouble, Golden State was behind by 11 points going into the fourth frame. Curry scored just thirteen points. With a game-high 33 points, he set the tone for the hosts, who rallied for a 132-126 triumph by outscoring the C’s 46 to 29 in the fourth quarter and overtime.
The Celtics are currently enjoying the longest winning streak in the NBA this season, ten games, when they play in Boston. During that time, they have defeated opponents by an average of 19.1 points.
However, the hosts are up against a Warriors squad that is in far better shape than when they last faced off in this Finals rematch, which is still somewhat of a yardstick for them.
In their past ten meetings, Golden State is 8-2. There has been a notable improvement in Jonathan Kuminga, and Green will be starting.
Boston might also need to get past Kristaps Porzingis’s absence. Following his thigh-knee injury on Friday during the 138-110 rout of the Dallas Mavericks, the seven-foot-three center’s availability for Sunday’s game is uncertain because of a left quad contusion.
Curry’s doubtful status due to right knee bursitis would aid their cause on Sunday but lessen the impact of the game. In his team’s 120-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday, the two-time MVP played 30 minutes and scored 30 points.
Due to irritation in his right knee, Brandin Podziemski is in the same condition. Andrew Wiggins is still absent due to personal matters.
The Finals rematch on Sunday will begin at 3:30 EST.
