Stan Collymore has predicted the score ahead of Manchester United against Chelsea.
Manchester United host Chelsea tonight in a fascinating Premier League fixture, with two underperforming teams facing off at Old Trafford.
Man United are on the brink of being dumped out of the Champions League group stages. Erik Ten Hag’s side were deservedly beaten away to Newcastle United at the weekend in the league, too.
Meanwhile, the Blues are still desperately searching for some kind of consistency in their own campaign. Can Mauricio Pochettino’s team build on Sunday’s 3-2 win over Brighton?
Manchester United vs Chelsea prediction
Stan Collymore has given his score prediction ahead of Wednesday night’s game between Man United and Chelsea, tipping the later to record a surprise win on the road.
Collymore told talkSPORT (2:56pm, 5 December): “United are unbeaten in their last 11 against Chelsea, but Chelsea have won three of the last four away. Could this be the straw that breaks Ten Hag’s back and moves Chelsea back into believing again. If I’m right, the answer will be yes. Manchester United 1-2 Chelsea.”
Mauricio Pochettino needs senior figures this week
Let’s hope that Chelsea’s key individuals shine through during what looks like a very difficult week.
First of all, there’s the pressure of a trip to Old Trafford to play a Man United side that are streaky. Afterwards, there’s a trip across to Merseyside a few days later to play Everton at Goodison Park.
If Pochettino’s side can come out of this week with maximum points, the league season will begin to look a lot different.
Reece James, now available again after serving a one-game suspension, needs to come to the fore.
Likewise, let’s hope midfield duo Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez both find top form.
