Securing Champions League football would be a “success” for Man City this season, according to Pep Guardiola, who praised the team’s “big win” over Everton.

Pep Guardiola praised his Manchester City team after they scored two late goals to defeat Everton, keeping their Champions League hopes alive.

“I’d call it a big win,” Guardiola said. “With just five or six matches remaining, getting three points at Goodison Park—especially with the form Everton’s been in, beating Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, and Arsenal failing to win here—makes this victory hugely significant.”

Guardiola emphasized that qualifying for the Champions League would be a major accomplishment and reaffirmed his belief in his squad’s resilience.

“People say you only show character when you win, but I’ve never doubted this group,” he said. “What these players have achieved over the past ten years is something I’ll always be grateful for, regardless of what comes next.”

He also pointed out how City have stayed steady despite injuries this season. “It’s been one of our toughest stretches for many reasons, mainly injuries, but we’ve managed to stay consistent. We’re still far behind Liverpool and Arsenal, but tonight we go to bed in fourth place. Now, it’s in our hands.”

Looking ahead, Guardiola underlined the importance of their next game: “We have a final on Tuesday against Aston Villa. With three home games and two away left, we hope to secure what would be a big success—Champions League qualification.”
