Liverpool rivals round-up: Sadio Mané could be set for a surprise transfer, while Manchester United could be about to follow Liverpool’s lead with a double boost.
It’s been a good week for Liverpool as its summer rebuild got off to the perfect start with the signing of Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine becomes the first piece of Jürgen Klopp’s overhaul following the disappointing 2022/23 campaign, having signed a five-year deal at Anfield. And with Fabrizio Romano suggesting the fee could be as low as $44m (£35m/€41m), the Reds may have already bagged the bargain of the summer
Mac Allister’s signing certainly sets the benchmark for Liverpool’s rivals during the window. As the season draws to a close tonight with the Champions League final, sides in the Premier League and abroad will no doubt be looking to follow suit during what is set to be a busy few months
Among those who could be on the move is former Liverpool favorite Sadio Mané, who‘s being linked with a surprise transfer to Spain, while Manchester United could be moving closer to a double signing to kick off their business
Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the other big sides in the Premier League and around Europe to take a look at the news going on at the other clubs.
R
eal Madrid is interested in signing Sadio Mané this summer, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.
The former Liverpool star has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, less than a year after leaving Anfield. According to German outlet Bild earlier this week, Mané is one of seven players to have been included on the Bundesliga champion’s transfer list.
But a path to Spain could now be open to the Senegal international. According to Galetti (on Twitter Real Madrid is ‘evaluating’ Mané’s situation as they look at potential reinforcements for their attacking options
Liverpool.com says: Mané doesn’t seem all that settled in Germany, and if the opportunity is there for him to make a move this summer, it might be the best option for both player and club. A move to Real Madrid would certainly be a surprise though.
While Karim Benzema’s exit has left the Spanish giant in need of a new striker, Mané didn’t fill the position for that long at Liverpool, and it would be very difficult for him to dislodge Vinicius Jr from his preferred position on the left. You can’t help but feel it might lead to Mané becoming the next Philippe Coutinho as he struggles to find a home after Liverpool.
