Rumours about Chad Baker-Mazara and Kentucky are real and amazing.

Two of college basketball’s premier programs, the Kentucky Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers, were in a tight race this week to land one of the top scorers in the transfer portal. But according to a new report, Indiana has emerged as the winner in the battle for the standout guard.

The two programs had contrasting seasons in 2024-25. Kentucky, under first-year head coach Mark Pope, finished with a solid 24-12 record and reached the Sweet 16, helping ease the transition after John Calipari’s departure. Indiana, on the other hand, endured another disappointing year. Mike Woodson’s squad missed the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season after finishing with just 19 wins — a shortcoming that ultimately led to Woodson stepping down after the season.

Now, new head coach Darian DeVries is looking to retool the roster quickly through the portal. Securing this high-scoring transfer is a major early win in that process. Despite Kentucky’s stronger recent performance, it’s Indiana who has reportedly sealed the deal for the talented guard.
