Ronnie O’Sullivan exacerbates Judd Trump’s injuries by defeating his rival in Saudi Arabia.

Judd Trump was said to as “the worst I’ve ever seen” by Ronnie O’Sullivan after he defeated his opponent in the Saudi Arabian Masters of Snooker semifinal. The “Rocket” easily defeated Luca Brecel 4-1 in a match that saw both players play below par, securing a final against Brecel.

The world No. 1 lost steam after a century break gave him a 2-0 lead, and Trump recovered to win a frame, but he then blew a chance to tie the match with a costly missed green. That one moment encapsulated his entire performance—he consistently shied away from taking chances while his typically dependable positional play betrayed him.

Furthermore, O’Sullivan wasn’t going to let him forget it. During his interview with Eurosport following the game, the 48-year-old stated: “The match wasn’t that great.” I think Judd was the worst I’ve ever seen.

I believe I brought him down to my level, and I’ve been acting like that for the majority of the season. I thought I could come in here and win two matches in a row since I performed so well the night before, but that anticipation has been dashed.”

O’Sullivan also denied any thoughts of going to the practise table during the 60-minute break, saying that he was more focused on doing well in the final than on winning. “I think I’ll go for a few cigarettes after that performance,” he laughed.

The 34-year-old Trump did not hold back when questioned about his performance. He answered, “I didn’t play very well.” “I was unsteady and felt awful. Even though he was giving me opportunities, I knew I would miss them because it’s the worst game I’ve played in a long time.”

The world champion Brecel of Belgium, who defeated Mark Allen 4-2 earlier, will now face O’Sullivan. Like his opponent, he too had no intention of becoming overly excited in the lead-up to the championship match.
