Rio Ferdinand predicts the score ahead of Chelsea vs Brighton clash on Sunday

‎Rio Ferdinand has delivered his score prediction ahead of Chelsea against Brighton on Sunday.

Chelsea will host Brighton this afternoon in a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge, with plenty on the line for both teams.

The Blues will be desperate to return to winning ways this weekend after a heavy defeat at Newcastle United last time out. Mauricio Pochettino’s side can return to the top half of the table with a victory.

As for Robert De Zerbi’s Brighton, they’ll leapfrog Manchester United and move into seventh with a win today.

Chelsea vs Brighton prediction

Speaking on Thogden’s YouTube channel this week, Ferdinand has predicted the result. He’s gone with a score draw between Chelsea and Brighton.

Ferdinand said: “It depends on what Chelsea turns up, the one that turned up at Newcastle the other day was horrendous. What the hell were they doing? But the one you saw against [Manchester] City, you’re thinking it’s changed. If the De Zerbi Brighton turn up they beat Chelsea. I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw.”

Elsewhere, speaking via BBC Sport this week, Chris Sutton predicted a Chelsea win over Brighton.

Mauricio Pochettino has defensive dilemma

Blues fans are intrigued to see what the starting line-up looks like later on.

Full-backs Reece James and Marc Cucurella are both missing through suspension versus Brighton. Meanwhile, defenders Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Malo Gusto and Wesley Fofana are all still unavailable because of injuries.

Our guess is Sunday’s back four will be made up of Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill. They’re all centre-halves by trade so Chelsea should dominate the aerial battles on the pitch, but Disasi and Colwill have the versatility to drop in as full-backs.

Pochettino’s side have leaked eight goals in their previous two league matches, so we’d like to think there’s been a focus on defence in training this week.

Visitors Brighton are on a seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions and possess a real threat
