REPORT: ‘DONE DEAL’ AS LIVERPOOL TRIGGER £40M MIDFIELD TRANSFER

After an illustrious five-year career at Liverpool, Fabinho has penned a new three-year contract with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. This marks the end of an era at Anfield for the Brazilian, following an emotional goodbye.

Fabinho now joins the ranks of former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and ex-Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante at the Middle Eastern powerhouse. His £40 million move comes as a significant signing for the Saudi Pro League club.

HURDLES OVERCOME IN THE MOVE

The transition was not without its hiccups. There were minor delays due to paperwork, and concerns that Fabinho’s French bulldogs would not be permitted into Saudi Arabia, where his breed is classified as ‘dangerous and aggressive.’ However, these were mere roadblocks, and all obstacles have now been resolved.

Fabinho’s farewell to Liverpool was marked by an emotional Instagram video, highlighting his many triumphs at Anfield. Since his move from Monaco in 2018, he has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

He expressed his feelings in these heartfelt words:

Today I leave my home. It’s been five years wearing this jersey and always with the greatest honour and happiness possible… Thanks to Liverpool, I reached my highest level and played a World Cup. Thanks to Liverpool, I fulfilled my dream of walking into a stadium with my son in my arms. Thanks to Liverpool, I played in the best stadium in the world, with the best atmosphere in the world, which is Anfield. That moment will always be in my memory. I love this club. Thank you, Reds, for everything we’ve experienced together. You will never walk alone. #YNWA ❤️🙏🏾”

The Brazilian’s departure leaves a considerable void in Liverpool’s midfield, compounded by Jordan Henderson’s recent move to Saudi Arabia as well.

Yet, with signings like Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp is optimistic about the future, admitting that more players will need to arrive before the transfer window closes.

“There are so many things to do,” he said. “The transfer window is open. If my day would have 28 hours at the moment it would not be a problem – I could fill them easily!”

As Fabinho embarks on this new journey, Liverpool fans will surely miss the decorated midfielder, but the memories of his contributions will remain etched in their hearts. The Reds are set to forge ahead, ensuring they continue their winning ways
