Despite Real Madrid’s lackluster season, Carlo Ancelotti appears certain to remain the club’s manager. Winning the Copa del Rey was a huge accomplishment because Los Blancos have struggled in recent years to perform in this competition. However, they utterly failed in their attempt to win back the La Liga championship. Even second place is still up for grabs with two games remaining. On the other side, Manchester City’s exit from the Champions League was also a setback.
The fans won’t consider this season to be a success overall. However, most people will agree that Ancelotti’s hand was not very favorable. Despite having a lot of talented players, this team lacks depth.
All indications lead to Ancelotti staying in the Real Madrid managerial hot seat. However, his contract expires in the summer of 2024. Additionally, the club needs to look out for possible successors.
Xabi Alonso has been mentioned in connection with the Real Madrid position due to his good performance at Bayer Leverkusen. And in that aspect, there is some good news.
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly interested in signing Alonso, according to RMC Sport. However, the Italian will quit his position at Real Madrid, and the Spaniard hopes to succeed him.
Alonso has experience managing at both the developmental level for Real Sociedad and the young level at Real Madrid. Although many had thought that his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen had occurred much too soon, it has turned out to be a huge success.
When the Spaniard joined, it appeared that they would have a difficult time escaping relegation; nonetheless, Alonso has led them to sixth in the Bundesliga standings. They were eliminated by AS Roma in the Europa League semifinals as well.
