Pochettino reveals ‘agreement’ between Chelsea and Juventus target Lukaku

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino insists ‘nothing has changed’ regarding Juventus target Romelu Lukaku: ‘The situation is where it is because of both sides. Both sides have arrived at an agreement.’

The former Inter striker continues training separately at Cobham, waiting to leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer.

Several sources in Italy and England claim the Belgian has an agreement with Juventus, but the Old Lady have not yet agreed on a transfer fee with the Blues.

Pochettino spoke at a press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against West Ham, providing an update on the 30-year-old forward.

“It is not only one side – it is two sides needed to find the best solution,” he said as quoted by London Evening Standard.

You cannot put it only on the club, it is about both sides. The situation is where it is because of both sides. Both sides have arrived at an agreement.”

“We were informed before we signed about the situation of every single player. After we signed, we had the squad that we had,” continued Pochettino.

“It is so clear that nothing has changed, and if there is something to inform then we will inform. There is nothing for us to do – I need to be focused on my team to try to perform.

“We cannot spend energy on a situation that was clear before we arrived at Chelsea.”

Lukaku refused to return to Inter earlier this summer when the Nerazzurri were ready to re-sign him on a permanent €40m transfer. The Nerazzurri have therefore reinforced their attack with Marko Arnautovic from Bologna after securing the signature of Marcus Thuram on a free transfer.

Chelsea have refused to swap Lukaku with Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic given that the Old Lady demanded a further €40m on top of that.
