Mauricio Pochettino has laid down the letter of the law at Chelsea ahead of what has become a very important game in the Premier League this afternoon.
Pochettino’s side go to Everton and attempt to come away with a win, which is really what they need without any excuses today.
Pochettino seemed to be quite reserved with his players after they lost to Manchester United last week whilst putting on their worst performance for quite some time. He refused to draw the players into it and even said he was pleased with their effort.
In the embargoed section of the pre-match Everton press conference though, Pochettino has gone in a bit harder and you get a sense that this is very much needed. Fans would rather hear this than excuses or fake positivity.
As reported by The Daily Mirror, Pochettino said: “We lay out the strategy. Then, if you are at Chelsea, one natural thing that you need to have is the fire. If not, we are going to struggle all season. We need to show that we care, to show that we are going to be ready to fight. That is non-negotiable. Football is about a lot of things but we need to start with this.”
And this is absolutely spot on. Every player pretty much put on a 0/10 performance against Manchester United, they were awful. We need to see MUCH more from them all today.
