AT THE SPANISH GP, MARC MARQUEZ CLAIMING A “TIGHT FIGHT” WITH MOTOGP RIVAL FRANCESCO BAGNAIA-“LIKE OLD TIMES”

 

In the closing laps of the Spanish Grand Prix, incumbent MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez engaged in an incredible battle; the Gresini Racing MotoGP rider compared the encounter to “old times.” Bagnaia claimed he “enjoyed” the “aggressive” battle, while Marquez flaunted the tire marks he had up his arm at the end of the race.

At the Spanish Grand Prix on Jerez, Marc Marquez praised his “tight fight” with competitor Francesco Bagnaia.
The race was won by the current world champion, Francesco Bagnaia, who managed to hold off Marquez.

Pole-position starter Marquez launched two attacks in the latter moments of the race. His arm was covered in the tire marks from Bagnaia as a result of his failed attempts.

Despite his first podium finish of the season, the Gresini Racing MotoGP rider told TNT Sports he was “super happy” with his second place finish.
He declared, “It was a really important race.” “Especially in the beginning, I was a little bit stiff.”Yesterday I crashed, and after that I was stiff at first and lost some positions.”
“But the speed was there to come back, the speed was there to fight with Bagnaia,” Marquez went on. Yes, the racing was exciting and the contest was close, just like in the old days.”I mean, I attempted to shut the door, but he was inside. He was really fantastic on the final lap; I believe he pushed and completed the quickest lap of the competition.

Marquez claimed he was not thinking about his severe arm injury from the incident in Jerez at the beginning of the 2020 season when he was pursuing Bagnaia.
“It doesn’t matter what happened in the past, I will fight until the end,” he stated.

Starting from the third row, Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team seemed to be enjoying his clash with Marquez as well.
“I enjoyed a lot the battle with Marc,” he commented. “Every time you have to fight with Marc, you know that you have to be aggressive, and it was very good – I enjoyed a lot.”
