Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has hinted on social media that he could make his full debut against Luton Town at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

The 21-year-old was engulfed in a huge transfer tug of war over the past few months as he looked set to leave Brighton during the summer transfer window. The Blues made their interest clear early on, but saw several bids turned down by the Seagulls as the situation dragged on.

Fast forward to August and Liverpool joined the mix, having a £110million offer accepted by the south coast outfit but with the player still holding out for a switch to west London instead. It gave the Chelsea hierarchy time to put together a transfer package that worked, agreeing a British transfer record £115million deal.

Caicedo has still been backed to perform with the Blues though, with the star still having to get up to speed with the season that’s ahead. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino claimed the Ecuadorian international would be available to play against Luton on Friday as the side go in search of their first win of the campaign.

Discussing his midfield options before the game, the boss said: “Mo [Moises Caicedo] yes is ready to start. [Romeo] Lavia no. He needs a few weeks to be ready to be involved with the team. He is working to try and catch his teammates. For Romeo we need to wait a few weeks but Moises is ready.”

That’s not the only hint that has been given over a potential full debut for the big-money signing on Friday night as he has taken to social media posting about the game too. Taking to Instagram, Caicedo posted a story that featured himself at the centre of a pre-match hype graphic for the clash.

It could hint at a starting role within the team for the midfielder, however it has been seen in the past that some players may post a graphic but may not feature. It remains to be seen which decision Pochettino will make, but it may be a delicate balancing act integrating the star into the team
