MEDIA WOWED BY £160,000-A-WEEK LIVERPOOL DEFENDER ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY

The £160,000-a-week (SalarySport) star started on the left of a midfield-four.

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson stars for Scotland

Scotland played a 3-4-2-1 formation against Cyprus in European Championship Qualifying Group A.

Robertson is a left-back by trade, but for Scotland, he does tend to play higher up to accommodate Kieran Tierney in defence.

Scott McTominay, Ryan Porteous and John McGinn scored the goals for Scotland.

It was a fifth successive win for Scotland, who now need just two points from their remaining three qualifiers to book their place at the Euro 2024 finals.

Robertson started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes.

During his time on the pitch, the 29-year-old played three key passes, had a pass accuracy of 89.7%, won one header, took 77 touches, made one tackle, one interception and one two clearances, and put in seven crosses.

Media praise for Andy Robertson

Robertson’s performance for Scotland has been praised in the local media.

GlasgowLive has rated his performance at 8 out of 10.

The report noted: “Good cross for the opener.

“Having a player who continues to excel in both a great Liverpool side and this resurgent Scotland team can only be of huge benefit on and off the pitch.”

The Scotsman has given Robertson 7 out of 10.

The report stated: “The Scotland captain was largely able to turn down the dial on his tearing down the left flank after one of his first such forays led to him delivering the cross from which for Steve Clarke’s men struck in the early minutes
