Mason Gillis Signs with Belgium’s Hubo Limburg United to Begin Pro Career
Former Purdue and Duke forward Mason Gillis is heading overseas to start his professional basketball journey. On Monday, Belgium’s Hubo Limburg United Basketball Club announced the signing of the New Castle, Indiana native for the upcoming season.
Gillis recently wrapped up his college career, spending his final year of eligibility at Duke during the 2024-25 season after playing five years at Purdue from 2019–24.
“Hubo Limburg United is proud to announce the arrival of Mason Gillis as the newest addition for the upcoming season,” the club said in a statement. “With his shooting range, energy, and commitment, we believe he’s a great fit for our system. We’re confident he’ll make a big impact both on and off the court.”
Gillis became a fan favorite at Purdue, where he played 132 games (63 starts), contributing to two Big Ten regular season titles, a Big Ten Tournament championship, and a run to the 2024 National Championship Game. He averaged 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, shooting 40.7% from three and 47.5% from the field over his Boilermaker career.
In his final season at Purdue (2023–24), he earned Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year honors after posting 6.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while hitting nearly 47% from deep.
After Purdue’s NCAA title game appearance, Gillis entered the transfer portal and committed to Duke, where he helped the Blue Devils win the ACC and reach the Final Four, averaging 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 37 games.
Gillis now joins Hubo Limburg United, which competes in the BNXT League, a joint competition of top teams from Belgium and the Netherlands. His first professional game is scheduled for September 27, 2025, against Filou Ostend.
