With a talismanic performance to close out his stellar campaign, Casemiro helped the Red Devils finish in the top four of the Premier League.
Manchester United thrashed Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford to decisively secure their return to the Champions League. Casemiro led the charge, as he has for the majority of the season, mercilessly bulldozing his opponents in midfield.
He contributed to Anthony Martial’s goal by setting up another, and he inspired United to a resounding thrashing that was finished by a penalty kick from Bruno Fernandes and a late strike from Marcus Rashford, who scored his 30th goal of the year.
It was a magnificent way to cap off United’s long but exciting inaugural season under Erik ten Hag, who has them back on the road to greatness even though they are still far from it. Contrarily, Chelsea appears to be far from joining Europe’s top league, and this was another terrifying night for the Blues, who suffered their eighth loss under Frank Lampard.
It was also an agonising night for Antony, who was carried off on a stretcher with an injury which looks set to rule him out of the FA Cup final.
