LSU Responds to Sunday’s Announcement of MiLaysia Fulwiley

LSU Women’s Basketball Adds Star Power with MiLaysia Fulwiley, 3×3 National Champion and Former Gamecock

The LSU Tigers women’s basketball program has remained a dominant force in the SEC under the leadership of head coach Kim Mulkey.

This past season, LSU reached the Elite Eight, falling short of a Final Four appearance with a loss to UCLA. Despite the setback, the Tigers picked up impressive wins over San Diego State, Florida State, and NC State.

Following the season, LSU focused on retooling its roster — and their most notable addition came via the transfer portal: MiLaysia Fulwiley from South Carolina.

On Sunday, LSU celebrated Fulwiley’s achievement as a USA Basketball 3×3 National Champion, highlighting her MVP performance during the tournament. Competing with Team USA “Chaos,” Fulwiley teamed up with Tessa Johnson, Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, and Madison McDaniel to take the title.

Fulwiley, once a top-ranked high school recruit, transferred to LSU after two standout seasons with the Gamecocks. She played a key role in South Carolina’s run to the national championship game during the 2024-25 season, where they ultimately fell to.

In her sophomore year, Fulwiley averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game — nearly identical to her freshman season numbers. Her move to Baton Rouge adds elite talent and experience to an already strong Tigers roster.
