Liverpool transfers: Turkish giants tipped to snatch classy Anfield star amid Klopp midfield reconstruction

Interest in Liverpool star Thiago continues to grow as the veteran midfielder enters the final year of his contract, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce the latest club to show interest.

The Spain international continues to be linked with a departure from Anfield after an injury-plagued 2022/23 campaign was ended by hip surgery.

According to This Is Anfield no official offers have come in for the 32-year-old, although there are strong suggestions that several clubs are keeping tabs on Thiago’s current situation.

And they claim that Fenerbahce are among the teams most strongly linked with a swoop for playmaker, while a shock return to Barcelona is also being mooted.

The This Is Anfield report adds that the Reds are currently happy to let Thiago see out the remaining year of his deal. However, should a firm offer come in for his services then a difficult decision might have to be made

Jurgen Klopp is in the middle of rebuilding his engine room, with Alexis Mac Allister already signing from Brighton for a bargain £35million.

Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai has also joined from RB Leipzig after the Merseysiders triggered his €70million release clause.

But with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all moving on, Klopp still needs quality numbers in his three-man midfield – even if Trent Alexander-Arnold might get more of a look in there next season.

Klopp still eyeing midfield additions

Further additions in that area are also being targeted, with the Reds currently weighing up their options before continuing their business.

Impressive Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia features on the club’s shortlist, while the representatives of Nice’s Khephren Thuram were also contacted earlier in the summer.

If any more new additions do come through the door then Thiago’s game time is almost certain to be reduced in the new campaign

The former Barca star made just 14 Premier League starts last term due to injuries and there is a growing feeling that, at his age, he might be better off going to a less physical and intense league to prolong his career
