Liverpool’s got important summer transfer business done early when they signed Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister, but Jurgen Klopp is still chasing a host of targets

Alexis Mac Allister, a World Cup champion, joined Liverpool from Brighton for £45 million, dealing Liverpool its first significant blow in the summer transfer market. However, other players have proven more difficult to get in.

In an effort to recover from a lackluster season, Jurgen Klopp has been connected to a number of players around Europe. And with at least six players confirmed to be leaving Anfield before the next season, reinforcements are required.

Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig has emerged as a major target this week, and Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern is another Bundesliga talent on the manager’s radar. Mirror Football has compiled the most recent Liverpool transfer rumors here.

Leipzig make move despite Klopp’s stance

RB Leipzig are determined to try and sign Fabio Carvalho on a permanent transfer – although Liverpool have already rejected an initial proposal from the German side.

He could leave the Reds on loan ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, as Jurgen Klopp does not want to sell. Leipzig are amongst a number of clubs who want to sign the Portugal Under-21 international, with West Ham, Burnley and Brentford also interested in a move for the youngster.

However, according to BILD in Germany, Leizpig’s hope is to get Carvalho more minutes and make him feel so comfortable that he wants to stay long-term beyond the initial year loan. As Leizpig have a good relationship with Liverpool, they are hopeful that could help them in getting Carvalho permanently, even though it could wreck the two clubs’ connection.

Reds set sights on three midfield targets

Liverpool’s summer transfer targets are set to come into focus, with their midfield overhaul showing signs of entering its final stages following recent developments.

Khephren Thuram and Nicolo Barella have both been named as Liverpool targets, with the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain creating space in midfield to be filled. Another player on the radar is Hungarian playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai, although negotiations are reported to be ‘complicated’

If the signings do not materialise, it will leave Jurgen Klopp looking inwards towards his current crop of midfield talent, with Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott both having played extensive roles within his line-up last season.
