Liverpool target Khephren Thuram ‘left out of Nice kit launch’ in potential transfer clue

Liverpool are continuing to monitor Nice starlet Khephren Thuram as Jurgen Klopp seeks to overhaul his midfield in the summer transfer window

Liverpool transfer target Khephren Thuram has been left out of Nice’s promotional launch for their new kit for the 2023/24 – offering a potential clue that he could be set to depart the French club this summer. The Reds are believed to be at the front of the queue for the highly-rated 22-year-old but Jurgen Klopp’s side are yet to formalise their interest with a formal approach.

Thuram is understood to feature on Liverpool’s shortlist alongside Southampton’s Romeo Lavia but it remains to be seen whether they will pursue a third midfield signing once they have finalised the acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian is now on Merseyside finalising his £60million move from RB Leipzig after Liverpool decided to trigger his time-sensitive release clause.

The Reds have already wrapped up the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Klopp is also thought to be looking to sign a central defender this summer which would raise doubts as to whether a third midfield arrival is essential.

Nonetheless, their interest in Thuram remains legitimate and it seems as though Nice are braced to lose the France U21 international before the new campaign.

Despite allegedly featuring in the initial shoot alongside reported Newcastle target Jean-Clair Todibo, both were absent in the final production posted on Nice’s social channels on Saturday afternoon.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool supporters spotted the development and many are now hopeful that the call is linked to Thuram’s future.

As one of Nice’s star players it is somewhat surprising to see the midfielder absent from the promotion given he is likely to generate a substantial amount of shirt sales.

The same applies to Todibo who was also scouted by Liverpool and Manchester United in the final stretches of the 2022/23 campaign.
