Liverpool need Romeo Lavia to take action to get £50m transfer over the line

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, who was unable to prevent the Saints being relegated from the Premier League last season.

Liverpool reportedly need Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia to take action and make it clear that he wants to move to Anfield in order to get a transfer over the line. Lavia starred for the Saints during his maiden campaign in Hampshire after joining the club from Manchester City last summer but looks set to depart his current employers after they were relegated to the Championship.

Liverpool endured a miserable season last time out after suffering a precipitous downturn in form compared to previous seasons. Despite rallying late on, Jurgen Klopp’s team could only muster a fifth-place Premier League finish and ultimately missed out on Champions League qualification.

The Reds midfield came under fire throughout the season and was highlighted as a problem area. And as a result, Klopp has already delved into the transfer market this summer to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

Klopp has been tipped to strengthen further, with his club currently being heavily linked with Lavia. Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be in the mix for the 19-year-old, who appeared 34 times for Southampton last season. But, according to Sky Sports, Lavia would need to confirm that Anfield is his destination of choice before Liverpool make their move
