Liverpool won’t sell Carvalho but will consider any bids made by Clarkson
Liverpool isn’t willing to sell Fábio Carvalho this summer, but will listen to offers for Leighton Clarkson, according to The Athletic.
Carvalho has been the subject of much speculation over his future, having endured a difficult first season at Anfield as game time proved difficult to come by during the second half of the campaign.
Liverpool reportedly rejected a bid of around $13m (£10m/€12m) from RB Leipzig to take the 20-year-old in a permanent deal (again via The Athletic), with the Reds only open to loan offers.
They will though listen to permanent offers for Clarkson, with the 21-year-old having spent the season on loan at Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen, where he scored six times and contributed nine assists.
Schmadtke could face transfer battle with son
Jörg Schmadtke’s son has taken up a new role at Borussia Mönchengladbach in a move that could have an impact on one of Liverpool’s reported transfer targetsy
Schmadtke senior of course began his new role as sporting director at Anfield last week, and Nils Schmadtke has followed hot on his heels, taking up the same role at Mönchengladbach (via the ECHO).
And that could lead to the father and son duo working on a deal between each other, with Liverpool having been linked with Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné (via CaughtOffside).
Not only that, but WAZ suggests Nils is eyeing up Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven as one of his primary targets, with the defender having also been linked with Liverpool, potentially paving the way for an all-Schmadtke transfer battle
