Jeremy Doku is reportedly once again on Jurgen Klopp’s radar as Liverpool have rekindled their interest in the Stade Rennais winger.
As Liverpool looks to bolster their forward line this summer, journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter claims that the Reds have a “strong interest” in the 21-year-old attacker. The Anfield giants have been connected with Doku for years.
CalcioMercato reported in 2020 that Liverpool were close to signing Doku, then at R.S.C. Anderlecht, in 2018. However, a conversation with Belgian teammate Romelu Lukaku put an end to any move to Merseyside, where the youngster was tipped as a replacement for Sadio Mane.
Now, three years later, Liverpool are seemingly again interested in Doku, who since moving to France has developed into quite the talent with Rennes, with the forward bagging seven goals and four assists in all competitions as well as getting an appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Indeed, there have been rumours that Liverpool are interested in signing a wide-attacker this summer despite their lack of quality in central midfield. And if this is proven to be the case, Doku could be an outstanding signing for the Reds given his age and impressive top-flight record.
Klopp could finally bring Doku to Liverpool after all these years
Doku was first linked with a move to Liverpool six years ago in 2017, and still aged just 21, a transfer could now be on the cards if Klopp gives the signal to trigger a bid for the attacker, who could be an outstanding long-term addition for the Reds.
As we know, a replacement for Mohamed Salah is due in the coming windows, and Doku could be the perfect successor for the Liverpool icon if the Reds can bring in the Belgian international this summer ahead of what will be one of the most important moves the club make in the squad
