According to reports, Liverpool’s stance on selling Mohamed Salah would change if the Egypt attacker personally informed the club that he wants to leave.
Salah penned a contract extension last summer to commit his future to Liverpool until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
The forward has been heavily linked with the Saudi Pro League this summer but his agent insisted earlier this month that he “remains committed” to the Premier League giants.
Despite this, Saudi side Al-Ittihad are reportedly stepping up their interest in Salah. It was claimed on Friday morning that he’s given the Middle East outfit the ‘green light to contact’ Liverpool about a transfer which would cost them around £257m in total.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that Liverpool “have no intention” to let him leave but their position may change if the player attempts to “force through a move.
“Liverpool have no intentions to let Mo Salah leave despite Al Ittihad wanting to negotiate, Liverpool informed Salah’s people they would not entertain him leaving as it stands,” Romano stated via his YouTube channel.
“The only chance for Mo Salah to leave is if he goes to the Liverpool board and tells them he wants out, which has not happened.
“Mo Salah has not communicated to Al Ittihad that he doesn’t want to join them this summer.
“It would take Mo Salah to force through a move for a deal to materialize.
Journalist Ben Jacobs meanwhile has indicated that “dealmakers are growing in optimism” that Salah will sign for the Saudi Pro League outfit but it will be “all on Liverpool should a formal offer arrive”.
“Al-Ittihad are exploring an ambitious late-window move for Mo Salah with a view to having him play in the 2023 Club World Cup in Jeddah. Saudi champions originally had Salah as a 2024 target only,” Jacobs said via.
Dealmakers refer to “growing optimism” of a shock move, but Salah’s agent is on-record this month saying his client committed to #LFC.
“Salah offered a three-year deal with the promise of making him one of the best-paid players in the SPL. Base wage being prepared is £65m with other earning opportunities on top.
