List of the top Kentucky basketball players and the best Wildcats to wear

Who Wore It Best? Ranking Kentucky’s Top No. 0 in Basketball History

In the coming weeks, we’re diving into the storied history of Kentucky basketball, identifying the best Wildcat to ever wear each jersey number from 0 to 99. With new NCAA rules allowing players to choose any number within that range, the list has grown. But for now, we’re focusing on those who’ve already suited up in Kentucky blue.

We start with No. 0 a number that’s been worn by electrifying guards, a reliable veteran, and even one standout who never played a single game.

Players Who Wore No. 0:

* Enes Kanter (2010, never played)

* De’Aaron Fox (2016–17)

* Quade Green (2017–19)

* Ashton Hagans (2019–20, switched from No. 2)

* Jacob Toppin (2020–23)

* Rob Dillingham (2023–24)

The Rankings:

6. Enes Kanter

Despite being a top international recruit, Kanter never saw game action due to NCAA eligibility issues. While he later had a long NBA career and changed his name to Enes Kanter Freedom, his absence from the court at Kentucky leaves him at the bottom of this list.

5. Quade Green

Green showed potential but never quite settled in at Kentucky. Averaging 9.3 points as a freshman, he transferred midway through his second season. With no standout achievements, he falls short compared to others who wore No. 0.

4. Jacob Toppin

Toppin exemplified growth and leadership, improving each year and finishing with a strong senior season. His consistency and dedication over three years were commendable, but others on this list had a more explosive impact.

3. Rob Dillingham

A scoring machine, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points per game, shot 44.4% from beyond the arc, and earned SEC Sixth Man of the Year honors. His ability to light up the scoreboard was unique, though his NCAA Tournament performance fell flat. Still, he ranks firmly in the top three.

2. De’Aaron Fox

Fox was sensational during his lone season, averaging 16.7 points and delivering a legendary 39-point NCAA Tournament game against UCLA. An All-SEC First Team selection, he led Kentucky to the Elite Eight. While his star power was undeniable, one player’s all-around impact edged him out.

1. Ashton Hagans

Though not the most prolific scorer, Hagans made his mark through defense, playmaking, and leadership. Twice named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and Co-Defensive Player of the Year, he was a steady force on both ends of the floor. His overall contributions earn him the title of the best Wildcat to wear No. 0.
