Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been hit by the impending exits of both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, having hoped to make a statement in this summer’s transfer window.
Following a dreadful campaign last season, Liverpool needed to make a statement in the summer transfer window.
One way for them to have done that would have been through the signing of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. The Ligue 1 champions are desperate to sell the France captain, who has stated his intention to leave on a free transfer next summer.

“If he gets the players he wants then maybe in that case, Trent will start on the right and drift into the midfielder area like we saw in last season. If that doesn’t happen then the door is wide open for him to start in midfield and someone else to take that right-back position.”
The Reds had been tentatively eyeing a move for the superstar attacker, who won the World Cup with France in 2018. But any hope of bringing the Frenchman to Anfield appear over, with The Athletic reporting Al-Hilal have made a world-record bid for him.
The fee is too big for Liverpool to compete against, with Al-Hilal also reportedly offering Mbappe a £700m contract. Mbappe has long been intent on joining Real Madrid, though this huge offer may now tempt him into moving to Saud
