Kentucky cuts Ikenna Alozie, a five-star guard.

The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff has been busy this offseason building their recruiting board for the 2026 class.

Following a strong debut cycle under head coach Mark Pope, the staff is aiming to land some major high school talent this time around. With promising traction already established with top prospects like Tyran Stokes and Jason Crowe, Kentucky has now emerged as a serious contender for another elite recruit.

Five-star guard Ikenna Alozie announced his top eight schools on Instagram Tuesday night, and Kentucky made the cut. Also on the list are Louisville, Kansas, Alabama, Houston, Arizona, Gonzaga, and Washington.

Alozie, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard from Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Arizona, is ranked as the No. 10 player in the 2026 class by 247 Sports Composite.

Kentucky’s inclusion is a positive sign, showing that Coach Pope and his staff remain heavily involved in this recruitment. Pope even visited Alozie in April, which suggests this is a name to watch closely as the cycle continues.
