After a poor season in which they failed to make the Champions League, Liverpool hopes to recruit numerous new players this summer. They have already signed Alexis Mac Allister.
With the acquisition of World Cup-winning midfielder Alex Mac Allister from Brighton for an initial amount of £45 million, Liverpool had already completed their first summer move.
As Liverpool looks to recover from a disappointing season, Mac Allister is anticipated to be the first of numerous arrivals. With a fifth-place finish and a 22-point deficit to winner Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp’s team failed to make the Champions League.
They were also knocked out of both the FA Cup and the League Cup in the fourth round, while Real Madrid thrashed them 6-2 on aggregate in the last 16 of the Champions League. Here’s all the latest news from Anfield.
Mac Allister is unlikely to be the only midfielder Liverpool sign this summer, following the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita. However, the report states that Liverpool are set to pull out of the race for Mount, with Manchester United now the frontrunners.
Liverpool are one of several clubs interested in signing Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, according to reports in Italy.
The Reds failed with an £86m swoop for the Italian international back in 2020, but have now revived their interest Corriere dello Sport claim. The 25-year-old is said to be considering leaving Juventus as he is not a ‘central figure’ for the club.
The report states that Liverpool are monitoring the situation, while fellow Premier League side Newcastle and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Chiesa
The Reds have also been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone and OGC Nice star Khephren Thuram and it is claimed the club could firm up their interest in the pair in the coming weeks
