Jurgen Klopp reportedly already plans to push Romeo Lavia to his limits once Liverpool complete the rumoured £50m signing for the Southampton midfielder.
According to the Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell, the German boss intends to push the 19-year-old talent to his limits ahead of the new season, with Lavia tipped to replace Fabinho in the starting XI.
Liverpool have made two bids for Lavia this week though the Reds missed the deadline to bring the Belgian international through the door for the second-leg of their pre-season preparations.
Meaning that Lavia will have some catching up to do, with Klopp’s summer training programme with Liverpool regarded for how physically draining it is on first-team players.
As a result, Lavia will be expected to work hard once his move to Liverpool is completed, and Klopp now seemingly has a plan in place to get the Southampton star up to speed with the rest of the squad
Tanswell said: “I’m sure Klopp would want to test him (Lavia) to his limits as well, something he’s probably not had at Southampton.”
Klopp could get Lavia fit in time for Liverpool’s Premier League opener
The Premier League is now just two weeks away from starting, and for Klopp, the Liverpool boss has it in him to get Lavia fit in time for the Reds’ opener against Chelsea.
The teenager is already remarkably fit for his age and has featured heavily for Southampton in their own pre-season preparations. And for Klopp, getting Lavia up to speed could be an easy enough task.
With a deal now close, the sooner the midfielder is through the front door the better. And Lavia could assert himself as a key player for the Reds if he can hit the ground running
