Jose Mourinho fires dig at Tottenham over unhappy spell in north London: ‘It’s the only club I don’t have a deep feeling for’

Tottenham has come under assault from Jose Mourinho, who claims that they are the only former team to which he has no strong feelings.

WHAT OCCURED? Between November 2019 and April 2021, the mysterious Portuguese strategist spent 17 months in north London, with a large portion of that time seeing games played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Mourinho does not have many pleasant recollections of his time at Spurs; instead, the current Roma manager prefers to recall his time at Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, and Manchester United with nostalgia.

Mourinho, who is preparing his current team for a matchup with Sevilla in the 2023 Europa League final, said to reporters: “I hope my words are not misconstrued, but the only club in my career I do not still have a profound emotion for is Tottenham. Maybe it was because President [Daniel] Levy did not give me anything at the time I was the club’s coach and the stadium was empty because of Covid. People are not stupid, thus there has always been a strong link in all other groups. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Fans are aware of the daily battles I wage for them. In my situation, it’s mutual and I identify as a Romanista, Madridista, and Interista. I’ll be bound for all time.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Mourinho is rumored to be on the verge of departing Stadio Olimpico due to a possible transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, but the erratic 60-year-old is hesitant to discuss his future. Regarding the rumors he is spreading, he responded, “I don’t like to speak before games, I want to play. We’re unable to play finals every week, regrettably. I’m not considering myself. We’ll be there on Wednesday because we want to play.
