Jaylen Brown Shares the Authentic Dunk Over Kai Cenat Idea

In this year’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Jaylen Brown displayed a number of tributes, however one wasn’t fully displayed.

Throughout his outstanding performance at Lucas Oil Stadium, Brown wore the late Terrence Clarke’s high school jersey and saluted Michael Jackson, an Indiana native, by donning a white glove. Additionally, the Boston All-Star attempted to honor a former Celtic, but things didn’t quite work out as planned.

Brown disclosed his intention to replicate Dee Brown’s renowned no-look slam from the 1991 Dunk Contest in an Instagram story that was shared on Wednesday. But when it came time for the performance, the 27-year-old had to jump over well-known streamer Kai Cenat and land on the ground before he could cover his eyes with his left arm.

Using video from Instagram, Jaylen Brown says that his slam over Kai Cenat was intended to be a mid-air homage to Dee Brown’s no-look dunk. JB couldn’t get that nod in during the competition itself until he was back on the ground.

Brown’s Dunk Contest debut turned out to be rather successful; he placed second in the competition, trailing only recurrent winner Mac McClung. It remains to be seen if Brown’s readiness to participate in the competition will inspire more All-Stars to follow suit in the future.
