The Kentucky Wildcats have nearly finalized their roster for the 2025–26 season, with several returning players, two top-tier recruits, and a strong group of transfers. Head coach Mark Pope and his staff have plenty of reasons to be excited about the team’s outlook.
One notable addition is Pittsburgh transfer Jaland Lowe.
Lowe, who earned All-ACC Third-Team honors last season, joins Kentucky ready to elevate his game alongside a roster stacked with NBA-level talent. A key difference this year is that he’ll be fully healthy heading into the season.
Jaland’s father, Marland Lowe, recently appeared on WLAP’s Sunday Morning Sports Talk and revealed that Jaland played most of last season with a broken ring finger. He injured it during a preseason scrimmage against Cincinnati and had to wear a splint for months.
“At the start of last year’s season—from November to January—he was essentially playing with a broken finger on his left hand,” said Lowe. “It was tough. I even reached out to De’Aaron Fox for advice. I asked him, ‘How do you manage with a splint? How can Jaland improve? He’s struggling with his shot.’”
That conversation sparked further interest in Kentucky, and ultimately, Lowe chose to transfer to UK.
With a full summer to acclimate to the system and enter the season at full strength, there’s hope that Lowe will take a major step forward. If he does, the Big Blue Nation could be in for an exciting ride.
