Jaden Springer is already able to distinguish between the Sixers and the Celtics.
Jaden Springer was acquired by the Boston Celtics during the trade deadline on February 8. Sam Cassell, an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics who coached under Doc Rivers with the Philadelphia 76ers in the past, highly endorsed him. During the Celtics’ victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, February 22, the defensive-minded guard made his playing debut.
In an interview with the media after the game, Springer was questioned about the changes he has noticed since moving to Boston. He observed that the basketball played by the Celtics is more fluid, with players able to read the defense and adjust their style of play accordingly.
Despite his obvious potential and strong recommendation, Springer will likely struggle to get playing time this season as he is behind Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Payton Pritchard in the Celtics guard rotation. Nevertheless, his defensive upside could be a swing factor in his bid for minutes. “I feel like there’s more read and react,” Springer said. “You going out there playing based off each other, playing based off your teammates. So you’re just reading what everybody else is doing.”
