Paris Saint-Germain intends to add more depth to their squad; one target is Olympique Lyonnais’ Bradley Barcola. However, the capital club does face competition for the Frenchman’s signature.
Nonetheless, on Monday, Fabrizio Romano reported that one challenger for the 20-year-old is dropping its interest. According to Romano, Chelsea and Lyon discussed Barcola last week, but he’s not close to arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is considering different options since the Ligue 1 giants wanted Andrey Santos on loan as part of the deal. As a result, the file is now cooling off after Santos joined Nottingham Forest on loan.
Still, PSG has another emerging challenger for Barcola and another target the French giants are eyeing. Romano notes that Brentford has their eyes on Johan Bakayoko and Barcola with the Sept. 1 transfer deadline approaching.
Brentford wants to improve their wing talent and likely feels these two would make them a better squad.
PSG has reportedly tabled a €25 million offer for Bakayoko, but that’s not meeting PSV Eindhoven’s asking price. Meanwhile, internally, there has been a lot of talk about offering a loan with a mandatory buy option for Barcola.
It will be interesting to see whether the lure of the Premier League is what’s the deciding factor if PSG misses out on both of these wingers
