Duke’s Latest on Sebastian Wilkins Recruitment

Duke Basketball Eyes Future Talent: Sebastian Wilkins Emerging as a Potential Target

Basketball today isn’t just about the games anymore. Beyond the excitement of the preseason, regular season, and postseason, there’s now an entire phase dedicated solely to building and reshaping rosters. In this evolving landscape, top-tier programs like Duke understand the importance of staying ahead of the curve.

Under the guidance of head coach Jon Scheyer, the Blue Devils have already secured some impressive names. The dynamic twin duo, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, headline their high school recruiting class, while Nikola Khamenia brings additional firepower. In the transfer portal, Duke has added versatile wing Cedric Coward and interior presence Ifeanyi Ufochukwu—two players expected to contribute right away.

But Scheyer isn’t stopping there.

Recently, Duke hosted two rising prospects on campus: Braydon Hawthorne and Sebastian Wilkins. Of particular interest is Wilkins, a member of the 2026 recruiting class who has the option to reclassify to 2025. If he chooses to accelerate his path, he could become a valuable late-cycle addition to any program in need of a skilled, high-upside player.

Wilkins just completed an official visit to Duke, and his social media posts suggest the experience left a strong impression. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share, “Had a great official visit at Duke University!!” accompanied by several photos—including snapshots inside Cameron Indoor Stadium and a heartfelt picture alongside his parents.

While a positive visit doesn’t necessarily mean a commitment is imminent, Wilkins’ enthusiasm hasn’t gone unnoticed. His ability to reclassify makes him a particularly intriguing option, especially for a program like Duke that has seen recent roster changes—such as the departure of Shelton Mitchell—create opportunities for minutes and roles to be filled.

With the offseason now doubling as prime time for recruitment and roster strategy, all eyes are on how Coach Scheyer will continue shaping Duke’s next great team. And as it stands, Sebastian Wilkins is definitely a name worth watching.
