Duke Basketball Eyes Rising Forward Braydon Hawthorne During Official Visit
In their search for another dynamic forward to round out Jon Scheyer’s fourth roster, the Duke basketball staff has recently turned their attention to 6-foot-8, 190-pound Braydon Hawthorne. The Blue Devils first made contact a few weeks ago and soon followed up with a visit to see the four-star prospect at Huntington Prep (W.Va.).
Hawthorne began his official visit to Duke on Friday, and the program now appears to be in a strong position in his recruitment.
Though still ranked just outside the top 100 in the 247Sports Composite (No. 105), Hawthorne’s stock is clearly rising—up 142 spots since December. 247Sports alone lists him at No. 71, while On3 has him as the No. 35 overall prospect in 2025, climbing 13 places since March. Among undecided players, he currently ranks third highest.
The former West Virginia commit reopened his recruitment in late March and has since taken visits to Pitt, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech.
Duke’s 2025 class already includes a trio of five-star recruits: forward Nikolas Khamenia from Harvard-Westlake (CA) and twin standouts Cameron and Cayden Boozer from Columbus High School (FL). They’re expected to join a core group of returning players and potential transfers to form a formidable roster next season.
