Drama in Saudi snooker as Ronnie O’Sullivan’s sour opponent rages that “scorers got the score wrong”

After losing to Luca Brecel in the World Masters of Snooker, Ali Carter held officials responsible for a costly error. Carter had an incredible outburst in his post-match interview after losing 4-1 to the Belgian world champion, alleging that the “scorers got the score wrong” at a crucial juncture in the fourth set.

With only 25 points remaining, the ‘Captain’ was behind 2-1 and 22 points behind when he missed an easy brown. After both players had struggled with their potting, Brecel sealed the match with a tenacious fifth frame, giving him a 3-1 advantage.

However, his English opponent was not inclined to show grace thereafter. He acknowledged his glaring blunder right away in an interview with Eurosport, albeit his justification wasn’t entirely clear.

I am cleaning house. Referring to the sequence of events that preceded his error, he remarked, “I want to move on and the scorers got the score wrong.” “After shocking (the blue) up the table and believing I could play anything I wanted, I suddenly wondered if I had miscalculated after glancing at the scoreboard. And it knocked me right out of my groove.

I immediately realized that in order to be able to sketch, I needed to pot the brown! I’m not sure how it happened, but after the referee said, “Oh, you’re on 41,” I realized I was 22 behind or something. I have no idea how it happened, but it totally confused me.

It was incredibly annoying when I wasn’t on the brown, green, or yellow right at that point. It is actually just extremely poor.

Not that Carter had only one complaint. The lengthy match between Mark Allen and Mark Selby caused his match to begin later than expected, and he lamented the unanticipated delay: “I arrived and then had to spend four hours in the room waiting to play. You have to deal with the fact that you have come a long way.”

This year, Carter has shown to be a contentious figure on the tour. After losing the Masters final against Ronnie O’Sullivan, he accused the “Rocket” of being a trickster and “snotting all over the floor,” which led to a public verbal altercation between them.

Carter needed to “sort his f****** life out,” O’Sullivan retorted. It carried on the rivalry between the two that began in 2018 when the seven-time world champion was alleged to have shoved his fellow countryman in the shoulder during the World Championships.
