Newcastle has unveil Harvey Barnes as their second summer arrival for £38million
Newcastle are still reportedly working on a deal to sign Southampton full-back Tino Livramento despite their lack of progress in negotiations with the Championship side. The Magpies made a move for the 20-year-old earlier in the window but struggled to strike an agreement but their hopes of signing the former Chelsea man are not over just yet.
Newcastle went big on the £60m club-record signing of Sandro Tonali in early July and now Harvey Barnes is set to follow the Italian through the door.
The English winger, who netted 13 Premier League goals with Leicester last season, is joining the Magpies for £38m.
Yet more new faces could follow and The Mail are reporting that talks are ongoing with the Saints over a swoop for Livramento
Eddie Howe’s side are believed to have offered up to £23m for the athletic wing-back but Southampton are yet to sanction a move to St James’ Park.
Chelsea also have a £38m buy-back clause but it’s their entitlement to future profit that is complicating the picture for Southampton.
The way the clause works is that the higher the total price, the larger slice of profit the Blues will receive meaning it’s a tricky negotiation for Newcastle

Livramento can play at wing-back, right-back or even left-back meaning he would be sure to bolster Howe’s squad depth.
Newcastle have had to be careful with FFP this summer and that is why Allan Saint-Maximin is headed for Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ahli in a £25m deal
Howe recently said of Newcastle’s balancing act in the market: “Depth [of squad] is huge for us this year.
“With the competitions that we’re in, having three games a week, we need to be able to rotate the team, but to be able to bring in players who are of equal standard.
“That’s what we’re looking to do, but we know we have a lot of work to do that. Players are expensive these days. We’re working within FFP guidelines, which is very difficult for us. We might need to be creative, but we’re trying to look at every avenue we can to make the club stronger.
We have a very strict budget that we’re trying to work within. Always with FFP, there are certain things you can be creative on, but we don’t have a huge budget to work with.
At times there have been frustrations and difficult days. We know the challenges that we face. Through the summer I’ve been through all the emotions.”
Goalkeeper Karl Darlow is expected to join Bournemouth on a permanent transfer.
Jamal Lewis is being lined up for a loan switch to Championship side Watford.
