Dominik Szoboszlai ‘private plane’ tracked as Liverpool and Newcastle face transfer deadline

As rumors about Dominik Szoboszlai’s transfer to Liverpool persist, a Hungarian football account shared a picture of a jet that supposedly flew from Budapest to England.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Reds are moving through with their ambitions to recruit the 22-year-old, whose RB Leipzig contract contains a €70 million release clause.

According to The Times, Liverpool will activate that clause on June 30 — the day it is expected to expire — and Newcastle is reportedly also interested.

According to Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports, one of the best attacking midfielders in the world fulfills the criteria that the Reds are looking for in a new midfielder this summer.

And we now appear to be at the stage where the flight tracker gets involved, with the Hungary international based in Germany and his home country at different stages of the year.

Szobozszlai ‘private plane’ tracked

A Twitter account named Hungarian Football Xtra posted a photo on Friday of a plane that set off from Budapest and landed in Liverpool on Thursday afternoon.

The account claimed that this meant Szoboszlai’s representatives had held talks with Reds chiefs – although there is no confirmation that the plane actually belongs to the attacking midfielder or his representatives, or whether the player was on it.

FlightRadar24 did confirm that the plane did indeed fly from Budapest to Liverpool – which doesn’t rule out that Szoboszlai is in talks with the Reds.

Flight tracking among supporters of top clubs isn’t exactly uncommon during summer and winter windows – and those same supporters will be desperately hoping Liverpool can get this deal over the line.

ADVERT

As per WhoScored, the 22-year-old recorded the sixth-highest average rating of any player in the Bundesliga during the 2022/23 season.

The attacking midfielder, who can play out wide and as part of a three-player attack, honed his technical skills by practicing with golf balls in his hands, as per Hungarian outlet Telex.

The reason behind that was to improve his ability to get out with the ball in tough situations – something that he may have to consistently practice should he move to the Premier League this summer.
