Didier Drogba has now reacted on Instagram after Kepa Arrizabalaga sealed a move away from Chelsea earlier this week.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, who’s been a Chelsea player since 2018, joined Spanish giants Real Madrid on a season-long loan.
There’s doubt about whether we’ll ever see the 28-year-old goalkeeper play for the Blues again, too.
Kepa has openly explained that he hopes Madrid decide to keep him beyond his loan spell, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Madrid were forced into signing a new goalkeeper this summer following a serious injury to Thibaut Courtois.
Kepa has gladly accepted the opening in Madrid and sealed a return to his homeland in Spain, where he originally shot to fame at Athletic Bilbao.
Chelsea great Didier Drogba has uploaded a small message on Kepa’s social media channel to the keeper.
“My keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga all the best my friend,” Drogba wrote on Instagram.
Kepa may not have always been the most popular on the pitch with supporters during his time in west London, but he’s certainly been part of the Chelsea family after five years with the club.
We hope Kepa can get back to his best football and predict he’ll do well now he’s back in La Liga.
Of course, there’s going to be intense scrutiny when playing for a superpower like Real Madrid. It’s the fresh start he needs, though.
As for Chelsea, they’re putting their faith in 25-year-old Robert Sanchez as their new first-choice goalkeeper following his summer arrival from Brighton.
