With Matt Grzelcyk being listed as day-to-day due to a lower-body injury he suffered during Boston’s 6-5 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers, the Boston Bruins called up Ian Mitchell on Thursday.
On Thursday, the Boston Bruins announced that Ian Mitchell had been called up from AHL Providence.
Since December 23, the 25-year-old defenceman has not appeared on the Boston roster. As the team’s sixth defenseman out of training camp, Mitchell was added to the roster for the opening night, but the rise of Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon knocked Mitchell down the blue line hierarchy.
This is in response to Matt Grzelcyk’s lower-body injury that forced him to leave Wednesday’s 6-5 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Boston’s top two left-shot defensemen, Grzelcyk and Hampus Lindholm, are anticipated to be out for Thursday’s game against the Calgary Flames and beyond.Granted that Lindholm is out week-to-week due to a lower-body ailment, Grzelcyk is regarded as day-to-day.
