Darwin Nunez’s participation in training on Tuesday in the afternoon gave Liverpool a boost in terms of injuries.
Jurgen Klopp claims the Uruguayan missed the previous two games due to a “very painful” infection of the tendon in his toe.
He was seen on Tuesday working on ball work and light running exercises with the team, suggesting he would be ready for Sunday’s season-ending match against Southampton.
In his first season at Liverpool, Liverpool’s No. 27 has already sustained six injuries, but despite this, he has still managed to score 15 goals from 42 games for a side that is struggling.
After Roberto Firmino’s squad party on Sunday with friends and family, Klopp’s team headed back to the AXA Training Centre to get ready for their trip to St Mary’s.
There were thankfully no other injuries to note as Barry Lewtas, the under-21s’ coach, watched the practice at the AXA Training Center.
Thiago, Naby Keita, Stefan Bajcetic, and Calvin Ramsay, who are all out with longer-term issues, did not participate in the group.
Even though this weekend’s game is probably going to end in a draw, Klopp should nevertheless play his best lineup because a victory would keep the team’s spirits high before a hectic summer transfer window.
In addition, Liverpool would receive an additional £2 million in Premier League prize money if they placed fifth rather than sixth.
