Christopher Nkunku drops Chelsea injury return hint ahead of huge Everton clash

Christopher Nkunku is yet to make his Chelsea debut due to a knee injury picked up in pre-season, but has dropped a hint that he could be back ahead of the trip to face Everton.

Christopher Nkunku has teased a potential Chelsea debut against Everton this weekend.

In a modern, ever-changing game dominated by social media, training ground photos can often give indications about a manager’s starting line-up. Rarely does a footballer post a pre-match photo of themselves if they are not at least involved in the matchday squad.

That is why Blues supporters are excited after Nkunku posted training photos onto his Instagram story. The Frenchman is remarkably yet to make his debut since arriving at the club in June due to a knee injury.

Stumping up £52million is almost a modest fee by Chelsea’s recent standards but, for many supporters, Nkunku was the marquee arrival. Capable of playing up front, as a No.10 or out wide, the 26-year-old was one of the most sought-after players in Europe last year.

An impressive 57 goals across his previous two seasons could point towards the antidote to cure Chelsea’s underwhelming campaign so far. Mauricio Pochettino will certainly be hoping for as he prepares his side for another tricky Premier League away game at Goodison Park.

The Argentine revealed he expects Nkunku to feature “soon” ahead of the defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday. Social media pictures now appear to show the forward on the verge of making his long-awaited debut as he took part in a Chelsea training session.

Fans have been quick to express their enthusiasm about Nkunku possibly returning to action. One comment suggested “the hopes of an entire club” rested on him coming back and hitting the ground running.

Another claimed “We will get there” while reposting Nkunku’s training picture. There will undoubtedly be anticipation from Chelsea supporters should Pochettino name him in the squad tomorrow.
