Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis.
His name may be unfamiliar to English audiences, but he’s a talented forward that is even outscoring Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah this season.
Vangelis Pavlidis has scored 22 goals in 27 games across all competitions this season for Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, including 18 goals in the Eredivisie league.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Salah has 18 goals across all competitions so far this campaign, with 14 in the Premier League.
The Evening Standard has claimed today that scouts from Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan have been to watch Pavlidis.
It is understood that London rivals Fulham are monitoring the 25-year-old striker, too.
The report adds that AZ are braced for offers in the January window for Pavlidis, who does hope to seal a transfer exit this month.

Pavlidis has scored 74 goals in 147 Eredivisie games in his career, so he’s certainly not a one-season wonder to burst on the scene this year.
The Greece international has been on the incline in the last few years, so will one of Europe’s top clubs now be prepared to take a gamble on him?
We’ve seen in the past that goalscoring strikers in the Netherlands can’t always translate that form in England’s top division, which would be our immediate red flag against his name.
Our feeling is that Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side do need to sign a prolific No 9 to really progress to the next level.
The Evening Standard recently claimed that Chelsea have made signing a new striker their priority for the January window.
